great read – love mc’s casual scholar looks, and the people he collects for his party are legends 🙂
I thought this was a manhua, no shade. No depth – does not feel like a world with any buoyancy; everything very basic, MC usually understands everything correctly (‘what you see is what you get’). Like all similar stories, only plot is: ‘I increase.’ Yes, character increases (money, level, power, influence etc) but there is little character development. World explanations (a people named X live in region Y) but minimal worldbuilding (region Y and people X and the audience understanding of them and the MC’s interactions with them help the author to explore themes Z/A/B). Life and death treated lightly.
Very stiff and colorless art. Color palette is q pale + draining on eyes. And multispecies, multicultural society introduced in Ch1 vanishes for many many chapters (I dropped before anyone other than an elf or android were introduced) and becomes an almost entirely human-only affair for q a while.
