A Secretly Capable Child Is Seeking For Her Dad (Novel) - Chapter 102
Chapter 102
“V, Veil oppa….”
Tie flinched without realizing it.
But even while he did, the screams continued.
At last Raul anxiously turned to Basto.
“…Let’s hurry!”
Tie included, the five of them quickened their pace.
But the farther they followed the fence, the louder the screams only grew.
“It’s that brown roof!”
At last Adeline, having found the stable, cried out softly.
Raul and Enzo nodded and quickly pressed up against the back side of the stable.
They skillfully climbed over the fence, hung from the wall, and began crawling up onto the roof.
“Aaagh. Pl, please save me… huhk. Please….”
The pleading flowing out from inside the stable grew even clearer.
With tears shimmering in her eyes, Tie buried her face in Basto’s shoulder.
At the same time, Enzo gave a short whistle from the roof.
It meant that no particular guards were visible nearby.
The moment Basto and Adeline, after nodding, had just climbed over the fence.
Raul and Enzo simultaneously jumped down from the roof to the opposite side of the stable.
“Sir Veil!”
However, the two of them soon froze in place.
Basto, Adeline, and Tie, who came around the stable as well, also widened their eyes.
“H, huh…… what, you came to save me, maybe?”
Inside the stable.
Veil raised his body upright, one arm bound by chains.
And in front of him,
“U, uaaaaaagh, let go…. pl, please….”
a knight whose leg Veil was holding was letting out horrible groans and pleading.
“Big brother Veil!”
Upon seeing Veil, Tie hurriedly got down from Basto’s back.
The child ran past the piles of hay spread over the floor and dashed to Veil.
“…Squirt?”
Veil was covered in blood from head to toe.
Perhaps because he had been beaten, his face was swollen so badly it was hard to recognize, and one eye was entirely blood-red from burst vessels.
The same was true of his body.
The right wrist in particular, which looked as if he had broken the chain, was severely injured.
Veil quickly hid his ruined wrist behind his back.
“Sq, squirt. It’s nothing, I’m fine.”
But Tie could not say anything at all.
Instead, with tears shimmering in his eyes, he looked Veil over.
How was he fine at all.
He was covered in wounds.
Tie bit her lip tightly and went past Veil.
Then he hurried to the stone wall, grabbed the chain connected to the stable, and started yanking on it.
“Squirt. You….”
Veil’s startled voice came from behind.
But Tie only pulled harder on the whole chain, tears dripping down.
“Let’s go back quickly. Let’s hurry and go back to the inn….”
He had expected it to some extent from the moment he saw Veil being taken away by the knights.
That Veil might get hurt.
But now that he had actually seen him injured, no other thought came to him at all.
“You’re hurt really badly, we have to treat you quickly….”
In the end, the child’s legs gave out and she plopped down on the spot.
“Just a moment. I’ll do it!”
Only then coming to his senses, Raul came running.
With all his strength, he struck the chain with his sheathed sword.
But the chain did not budge in the slightest.
Watching, Veil muttered,
“It’s no use. You need the key. That’s what I was searching them for in the first place.”
With a glance, he pointed to the knights sprawled on the floor.
There wasn’t even only one unconscious knight on the ground.
“Originally there were four. As soon as I knocked out the first two who were nearby, the rest all came at me on their own.”
Basto, who had been listening, shook his head.
Veil was unexpectedly strong at hand-to-hand combat.
Rather than overpowering people with tremendous strength, he took the advantage in a physical fight through swift and agile movement.
“Squirt, don’t cry. Hm?”
Veil approached Tie and started soothing the child.
“Did you hear it while coming? Those weren’t my screams, you know? They were the bad villains’ screams.”
“Uuuh, but oppa got hurt too! They say people who get hurt are fools! Oppa is a fool! A dummy doggy poop smell!”
“…Yeah. I’m a fool, a dummy, and poop. So stop crying. Hm?”
But Tie did not stop crying easily.
With a sorrowful face, the child gently touched Veil’s one wrist that was still bound by the chain.
“Really, can’t you get rid of this? Oppa, you can’t run away….?”
At length, Veil, after going silent for a moment, asked quietly,
“If I get just this off, will you stop crying?”
Tie nodded.
Veil’s eyes grew serious.
“Then should I cut it off and run?”
Tie gaped.
Soon deep shock appeared in the child’s eyes.
“C, c, cut it off….?”
“Astie, someone’s coming!”
It was then.
Lucarion, who had been looking around the area from a distance for some time, came running.
“They must have heard the screams. It’s not just one or two.”
At those words, Enzo and Raul’s complexions darkened.
They had just been trying to bring a large rock and break the point where the wall and chain were connected.
“Enough. Everyone move aside.”
Then Basto, who had been quiet the whole time, stepped forward with a sigh.
Everyone looked at him with bewildered eyes.
But Basto passed by Adeline and stood in front of Veil.
Before long, gripping the chain with both hands, he drew a short breath.
“…Huh.”
The next moment, the veins in his brow and on the backs of his thick hands bulged up so sharply it looked as though they would burst.
And then.
Tuduk, the thick iron chain broke.
“…Th, th, this is insane.”
Veil stared at Basto as if he could not believe it.
“B, B, Basto-nim?”
“Wh, what did I just….”
Raul and Enzo too were just as frozen as statues.
Lucarion, standing slanted beside Adeline, muttered as if interested,
“Not bad.”
Brushing off both hands after rising from his place, Basto said,
“Then let’s go.”
She immediately turned her back toward Tie and knelt down.
“Tie, get on.”
But Tie did not get on her back for some reason.
Instead, he was looking around with a strange expression from a little while ago.
Meanwhile, everyone had already moved out of the stable.
“Tie, hurry up and get on.”
Basto urged him again.
But Tie still did not move.
He only stood there quietly, staring at something.
“Tie!”
The child tilted his head.
Inside the stable.
In the right corner, where huge piles of hay were stacked.
The spirit that had guided them all the way here was standing there.
“Uncle Basto.”
“Tie, I don’t know what it is, but there isn’t time right now!”
“It’s not that.”
The spirit moved its lips and said something.
With a very sad and desperate expression.
Tie pursed her lips and narrowed the space between her brows.
He could not understand at all what the spirit was saying.
“There! Catch them!”
Right then, a group of soldiers appeared from around a nearby corner not far from the stable.
Having found Agabert, they sped up.
Each armed with all manner of weapons.
“Tie!”
At last Basto grabbed Tie by the arm.
But Tie,
“Tie-!”
shook off Basto’s hand and started running toward the corner of the stable.
“The will, the will!”
At Tie’s shout, Lucarion, Veil, and Adeline, who had been waiting outside, turned back.
Tie shouted again.
“The will is here!”
And then he frantically began rummaging through the pile of hay.
