I mean… even as a noble he seems pretty shitty, not only is he utterly incapable of controlling his house he can’t even keep his children in line, most nobles would not only have a set heir but would already be tidying up their unnecessary children, instead he’s fostering a lopsided competition.
It’s just dumb and the very nature of his succession battle would be a big stain in social circles, though never stated openly most nobles would be sneering behind his back, especially since he’s allowing his youngest heir to step over the older children.

No, the point is that all of his brother already have a big advantage from the start w backings from their mom and maternal fam. while the mc’s mom is dead, maternal fam nowhere to be seen, he also dont have any knight, elder, or vassals in his side.
