After hearing the entire olive deal spelled out, I gotta point out two things… firstly, the writer did one hell of a job with the delivery of this subplot! It was an entertaining delivery that I loved from jump to end. Secondly, after all was revealed, all I could think with this whole situation was: what an unrealistic subplot😅! Yep, I said that (cz it’s true). What bargaining chips did the growers have that made them think demanding more money is completely justified, that they deserve more? There’s nothing! Irl, when growers pull this move it’s because they own shares in the name brand or because they have a superior product that the name brand has to use. The growers have no leverage of the sort, no bargaining chips! They only have their COMMON olives from their COMMON olive farms. The brand was scratch built and fully funded by the mcs company. They advertised common as luxury and then gave the brand reputation through competitions. That now name brand is fully owned by them and they can change out the growers any time they want. The manufacturing plants, the supply routes [all] are fully owned and operated by the mcs company! The growers are just growers. Like the mc said, they can easily swap out common olives from one farm to another, or they can use the manufacturing plants and supply routes for another product altogether, like wine. Irl, no one woulda tried to demand more like this when they have zero ground to stand on! Fighting for more was a lose-lose situation with 0% chance of success! No one’s gonna take that fight on😅! Seeing it all afterwards, yes, the subplot was absolutely unrealistic. However, I’ll be damned if it didn’t make the subplot delivery that much more impressive😂👍!
