It’s kinda nonsensical that only the butler knows how much those antiques were sold for. Is she keeping her father in the dark? Even if she was, he’d have to be blind atp wouldn’t he? He didn’t notice his home, clothes, and other belongings all look brand new compared to before, and that they have money coming in for daily necessities? And, why wouldn’t she have been there for the sale of those items? A butler from a poor noble household selling those off all by himself wouldn’t fly. Most merchants would question if they were obtained legally. Her going with him simply as a chaperone makes more sense than him selling their items alone. This is fun so far, even if some of it is a little off. So, hopefully the underlying parts of the story start to straighten out some.
Ah, I will say this: I would’ve liked to see more development within the household and territory before shooting her off on a school arc. I think that specific development is a bit premature (plus, school arcs just aren’t as fun to read😅).
It really depends on the rank of their nobility. Higher nobility usually have butlers or maid that’s actually lower nobility like a baron. If they don’t inherit the house like a 2nd or 3rd son, they tend to find jobs as butlers or knight.
Either way, as long as they work under a noble, merchants wouldn’t care if its legal or illegal cause most nobles have questionable hobbies.
