That’s just weird. Soju is horribly headache/hangover inducing, whereas sake has lower alcohol content, and is purer/much less hangover inducing …
On the other hand, if you’re totally inexperienced with drinking sake, I guess you can drink more, think it’s less dangerous, and suddenly be clubbed by it … (That happened with me and cider, actually. For some reason I had drunk very little cider, as compared with beer/wine/liqueurs/heavy spirits, and this time I was just throwing cider back. I paid dearly for that afterwards … 😀 )

At the same time, there are of course different quality levels for sake, too. And maybe there is soju that doesn’t feel like engine oil?
