If he truly lo loved his daughter he would have properly parented her or has someone very least hired to properly parent her instead of just maids whose job is not to raise a child. A nanny or governess
Let’s see, he’s an old soldier weary of fighting and constant strife, his emotions are crippled by some shitty curse, and he doesn’t really seem to get much of a break from anything. Could he have parented her better? Sure. But these circumstances are most definitely not the kind that would lead to someone being a good parent.
but that doesn’t excuse his behavior and action toward the original owner of the body who simply died while he went away fighting, regardless of his means or reason the real character died never having received an ounce of affection from him nor no one else (assuming) and people treated her like she killed her mom too and he never intervened! Yes he couldn’t arrange a more proper model for her but forgetting even her he never cared for any of the other child trully! Just cuz his emotions were turned off doesn’t make sense for him to loose all common reasoning and memories of the past! Also if his not stable enough to find right from wrong cuz of his emotion how can he be incharge of the whole dukedom and such! (not tryna come for u lol but its just to point it out plus if u take into his suffering and situation into comsideration then think about the dragon that suffered so much from its birth till many centuries tick now and all for what! It did nothing yet it faced such a life yet somehow it still had so much compassion and just enough reasoning to separate the wrong from the right and just have common sense if)
