Yeah, that set up was ok, but there’s a flaw with HOW they left. Irl, the entire battalion would’ve left with him. Units like this, which were even common irl back in the day, didn’t leave as just a couple people. If the commander left, they all left. They understood that they could only survive together, and if you worked for someone that fought WITH you and you had SUCCESS with, you followed them. You weren’t going to leave your life in the hands of some unknown person. Especially, when the person dismissed is someone you look up to but was considered nothing from a higher-up. If these great ppl are nothing, what are you in their eyes? Now they’re gonna send one of their subordinates to replace your commander? That’s a big no thanks and fuk you. A cavalcade is what we should’ve witnessed here.

The kingdom has conquered numerous neighbors, but how did the one directly to the north avoid getting taken?
This story at least has a good reason for the MC to be kicked out, they all know he is powerful but because of politics he was kicked out.
