Separately, I will say that the one thing I think is kind of lowering the stakes a bit is how a lot of people are not staying dead. Back Attack, Gildal, Sohye (?), now even the fox spirit the OG porter killed might still be alive? Just sth I am keeping an eye on. I enjoy a lot about the writing otherwise
