The new age “peaceful Japan” mentality really screws with realism in these types of manga. If you live in this type of harsh world, you HAVE TO play by its harsh rules or you’re dead. Simple as that. If someone has the audacity to even glare at you after you put them in their place, let alone actually say something stupid like “I’ll remember this,” you’re job as a human is to get rid of that future problem then and there. If the story doesn’t go with that flow, it’s just a massive logic plothole.
