Summary
Ichika Shinonome, a second‑year middle school student and former bullying victim, spends her days agonizing over how to deal with other people. One day, during an off‑campus class trip, she is struck by a falling roof tile at a place called “Katari‑zuka” and hovers between life and death. When Ichika regains consciousness, the world she sees is not the living world, but Kakuriyo, the land of the dead. There she meets the shinigami Toriku and Mokuren, a cat who manages “forbidden rakugo” stories in Kakuriyo, and they beg her: they want Ichika to set the stories right—!
